The Longview String Quartet and Ensemble in concert March 27

The Longview String Quartet and Ensemble will be in concert at FUMC, Longview this Sunday March 27, 2011 at 5:00 PM

FUMC Shreveport Sunday service 3-13-2011 and upcoming Festival Encore 4-3-2011

FUMC Choir Director Will Andress loves conducting orchestra and choir together. After all is said and done, vocal and instrumental music is the best way to go! Ray Peebles is organist for FUMC.

Last Sunday March 13 was a great day for choir and brass at the morning service. Three trumpets, four Horns and three trombones. Tom Hundemer who contracts for FUMC was out of town so was not available. However, those of us who did play certainly got in the groove. Photos below

SMB - Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet presents the Premiere of Aladdin - March 19, 20 2011


SMB and its Music Director Kermit Poling present the ballet "Aladdin" scored and conducted by Maestro Poling who has several original ballets to his credit including "The Wizard of Oz" presented by SMB in 2010 and "Snow White" which premiered in 2009. The Shreveport Symphony once again will be in the orchestra pit conducted by Kermit Poling who serves as SSO's Associate Conductor. Artistic Director and choreographer for SMB is Kendra Meiki.

SMB guest artists for "Aladdin" are Eddy Tovar Principal Dancer with Texas Ballet Theatre as Aladdin and Mary Jane Hobgood-Arad of the Jeoffrey Ballet School Performing Company as the Princess

2 performances of High Flying theatrics are scheduled and both are afternoon matinees at Riverview Theatre:

*Saturday March 19 - 3:00 PM
*Sunday March 20 - 3:00 PM

Baroque Artists of Shreveport (BAS) - Sunday March 6, 2011 - final concert of the season


St. Marks Cathedral, Shreveport, LA

Baroque Artists of Shreveport present their final concert of the season, Sunday, March 6, 2011 at St. Marks Cathedral - Fairfield at Line - 3:00 PM.

Scheduled works are by Bach, Handel, Telemann and Vivaldi.

Members of the ensemble are: Jennifer Carsillo, Angela Russell, Christopher Reed, Dan Santelices, Janis Teague, Adrienne Gabriel, Ruth Drummond, Chris Allen, Sally Horak, Theresa Bridges, Gay Grosz and St. Marks Music Director and Choirmaster, Donald Smith.
