Texarkana Symphony Orchestra sets its sights on Sounds in 2010 -2011

The Texarkana Symphony Orchestra celebrating its 5th season wants you to savor the Sounds of Music in all their glorious forms with something for every audience member.

Saturday September 25, 2010 - Sounds of the Cinema

Saturday January 22, 2011 - Sounds of the Voice

Saturday April 9, 2011 - Sounds of the Next Generation


The three Masterworks programs - Sounds of the Cinema, Sounds of the Voice and Sounds of the next Generation include Beethoven's Symphony No.7, John Williams' film scores, Poulenc's Gloria with mass choir, Franck Symphony in D, Ravel's Bolero, Pines of Rome and Sibelius Violin Concerto in D minor plus a newly commissioned piece by local Texarkana composer Clint needham.

Special offerings are the Christmas Family Spectacular Pops Sounds of the Season December 19 and Sounds of the Soul celebrating traditional gospel songs on February 20.

The TSO Masterworks programs are held at the historic Perot Theatre in downtown Texarkana, the Holiday Spectacular in the Sullivan PAC at Texas High School, and the Sounds of the Soul Concert at the Lonoke Baptist Church in Texarkana, AR.

The Texarkana Symphony annually hosts a Youth Concerto Competition and presents educational concerts to area students
