NEWS FLASH - The Arkansas Symphony begins 2013 -14 with a huge BANG - Stravinski's The Rite of Spring, Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich

Oh, my goodness!

Look at the opening season concert by the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra in Little Rock!! Could it get any better? Not hardly! Saturday September 21 and Sunday September 22. Not one, but two opportunities to see and hear a smashup, smashing live performance by the ASO. Performances with some (h)ear catching pieces including pianist Martina Filjak. The brass parts alone should make your hair stand on end. I've played all three pieces and I can readily testify to the hair spray horn parts. :)

But, hey, the string, woodwind, piano, percussion and harp parts are worth your other ear.

Fasten your seatbelts
and do NOT miss it

Shostakovich - Festive Overture, Op. 96

Tchaikovsky - Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat Minor, Op. 23

Marshall Symphony Orchestra - Jeans 'n Classics 2013 and next season ??

A Big question for which I have no answer!!

Does anyone know the answer? I don't.

I truly have no idea why I have not been asked to play Marshall Symphony Orchestra's annual Jeans 'N Classics concert in the square this September nor why I haven't received a contract for the MSO 2013-2014 Season as I have in previous years.

I am completely and totally in the dark and have received no answers from either MSO management or the music director despite several queries requesting information.

Susan

I am happy to speak with you personally
Thank you very much,

Houghton Horns. Keller, TX August 2013 - one of my favorite places - just returned

back home with a new Rauch G lead  pipe for my Rauch Horn
installation by Houghton Horns

Played some quartets with friends this morning. Beginning to settle in with this newer, larger pipe. Practicing tonight as well between plays - the LSU/TCU game. I love the upper end of the pipe. So easy to play with a much, rounder, clearer sound in the higher register.. Thought I would have to work harder.

Dennis and my Rauch in good company in the Houghton Shop
the other pipe

Dennis blow torching the pipe melting the solid pitch into a pot after bending it into the appropriate Rauch curve
Dennis measuring the two pipes for the best fit
