The French capital during the 1920s was the most exciting musical center in the world. All kinds of musical sounds and styles entertained Parisians during that decade including jazz-influenced works by French composer D. Milhaud (Le Creation du monde) and then-revolutionary jazz compositions by C. Porter and F. Poulenc. Do not miss this special musical voyage!
 Program includes Le Creation du monde, op. 81a by Darius Milhaud; Cole Porter's Song Book; and Le Bal masque by Francis Poulenc. See the compete repertoire here:

MSO CONCERTS IN MAY


May 9 – Classical French Chamber Music in the Art Garden
7:30pm, Mississippi Museum of Art
     6:00pm cash bar and food available for purchase
     (No outside beverages. Picnics are welcome.)
     7:30pm concert
     ($10 per person at the door; no advance tickets)

Join the Mississippi Museum of Art and the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra (MSO) for a Celebration of French Music in The Art Garden in conjunction with the exhibition Old Masters to Monet: Three Centuries of French Painting from the Wadsworth Atheneum. Celebrate with a program including the bubbly effervescence of French baroque dances, the misty impressionism of Debussy, and Darius Milhaud’s 1923 groundbreaking jazzy work: The Creation of the World.
