Shreveport Opera - Madama Butterfly by Puccini Saturday March 31, 2012

The Shreveport Opera presents its final opera of the 2011-2012 season on Saturday, March 31 at downtown Riverview Theater - Puccini's Madama Butterfly. From the opera pit, Jerry Shannon conducts the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra.

Shreveport Symphony presents "Luck O' the Irish" with pianist John O' Conor March 17, 2012

Pianist John O'Coner will join the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra Saturday evening March 17, for the "Luck O' the Irish" - a concert featuring Concerto No. 6 by Irish composer John Field, Percy Grainger's Irish Tune from County Dairy (Danny Boy) and the magnificent Beethoven Symphony No. 7 in A Major . . . . Ahhhhh, such glorious Horn parts!

The Music of Thomas Hundemer - a recital at Hurley Music Building 3-6-2012

Tuesday evening in the recital hall at Centenary College, we had the opportunity to hear some of the music compositions of  SSO Principal Horn Thomas Hundemer who teaches horn and composition at Centenary College. 'Cellist/Pianist Eliot Haas - in recital Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Anderson Auditorium on the campus of Centenary College - 7:30 PM

Eliot Haas, son of Kristina and Peter Haas of the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra, plays both 'cello and piano and at the young age of 15 has been a musician since the age of three, playing in ensembles with his brother Issac and his parents. He is a sophomore at Magnet High School, has won honors in piano and participated in the Louisiana Allstate orchestra for two years. In recent months he has played in several professional orchestra performances such as FUMC, Marshall and FUMC, Shreveport.

Playing both piano and 'cello in his recital Sunday March 11 he will be accompanied on two selections by his piano teacher Joy Ratcliff.
