the West Edge String Quartet - Christmas around the World 2010

The West Edge String Quartet whose members are violinists Kermit Poling and Elizabeth O'Bannon, violist Borys Smolaga and 'cellist Ruth Drummond presented their Christmas Holiday Concert at Frost Chapel, First Baptist Church of Shreveport, Friday, December 10. The theme was Christmas around the world, a virtual musical tour of celebrations around the world. Included and played by quartet members were a mandolin, a triangle, a tamborine and a "quack quack".

Shreveport Symphony Holiday Concert December 18 2010

The Shreveport Symphony with Associate Conductor Kermit Poling on the podium presented its holiday concert at the Riverview Theatre to a packed house Saturday, December 18 with singers Seva May and Gale Odom plus a children's chorus from area schools - Northside, Shreve Island, Apollo, Fairfield and Arthur Circle Elementary Schools and Cope and Youree Drive Middle Schools.

Directors of the choirs were Katie Fullbright, Laura Raines, Raynelle Stanage, Connie Lerchie, Kaci Kimball, Jessica Wright, Eleanor Drobina, Amy Wakefield and Nolan Budgewater all of whom deserve a special round of applause for their dedication and hard work with each choir.

Texarkana Symphony Holiday concerts Sunday Dec 19, 2010

Texarkana Symphony, Marc-Andre Music Director, present 2 holiday concerts this Sunday afternoon December 19 at the impressive Sullivan Arts Center on the campus of Texas High School in Texarkana, TX on Summerhill Road. Concert times are 4:00 and 6:30 PM.

SOUNDS OF THE SEASON with your old favorites such as "Here comes Santa Claus", "Twelve Days of Christmas", "Winter Wonderland", "O Holy Night" plus John Williams "Polar Express" and excerpts from "Home Alone". Also the Randol Alan Bass "Gloria".

The I-49 Brass return for their 3rd annual holiday performance in Shreveport. Music will be pouring forth from the sanctuary of the Broadmoor Presbyterian Church on Grover St. at 3:00 PM. Members of the group who all live somewhere on I-49 (thus the group's name) are Rick Rowell and Michael Scarlato, Trumpet, Tom Hundemer on Horn, Michael Davidson, Trombone and Mark Thompson, Bass Trombone. I certainly plan to be there after I play FUMC Marshall tomorrow morning. Wouldn't miss it, and NEITHER SHOULD YOU! Get in the spirit!! . . . . . . .  Sorry, snow not included!

FUMC Marshall Christmas concert on Sunday Dec. 12, 2010


First United Methodist Church of Marshall, Texas presents its annual Christmas Cantata with choir and orchestra Sunday Dec. 12 at 10:30 AM in the church sanctuary. The concert is always presented to a standing room only crowd and is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
